Equine Behaviour Consultations

Our horses are constantly communicating with us and it's up to us to learn to listen. This service is destined at any undesired behaviour you might be experiencing from your horse (nipping, needle phobia, fearful of leaving the centre, trailer loading, difficulties with the farrier, moving at the mounting block etc...).

There is always a reason for the behaviour your horse is exhibiting and it's up to us to pinpoint it in order to help the horse understand the behaviours we would like to see instead. Please get in touch if you have an issue you would like to resolve.

Equine behaviour is my chosen area of expertise and I observe the horse's body language in all areas of my work in order to understand them the best I can and adapt what I'm doing based on them. I regularly attend supplementary training courses on behaviour modification and it was also the focus of my University Thesis with the University of Edinburgh.

Groundwork Sessions

For me, groundwork with our horses is invaluable. If done correctly, you can exercise your horse just as efficiently and thoroughly as when you ride. Bonus for them - they don't have to carry you! In groundwork, you can observe your horse's locomotion and expressions in ways you can't when you ride. There are ways to incorporate many different activities into your groundwork in order to avoid sending your horse round in circles for minutes on end. Groundwork is not just traditional lunging, but also in hand exercises, postural correction, obstacle courses together, walks out in hand... It is great for your horse's mind, body and relationship with you.

Building Confidence and Connection

Horses are strong and powerful creatures. When we lose confidence, or they lose confidence, things can quickly get out of hand, becoming frightening and dangerous for you, for them and other people or animals around you. When you take the time to build your horse's confidence up in slow steps, and yours as well, the two of you become more connected and with time, these frightening moments do reduce. I have intimately personal experience with fear and anxiety, which I have learnt to manage in numerous ways and has made me passionate about helping others with these same issues. You don't have to struggle alone, there is a way out.
